Art is one of my favorite mysteries. A creative person with no experience in the art realm, I’ve always been fascinated by galleries and paintings and the different types of expression coming alive through this medium. When I visited the Celebrations Gallery in Pomfret, I fell in love — not just with the art, but with the whole experience. With a gorgeous gift shop specializing in all things tea, amazing jewelry, and dozens of unique gifts, as well as the creative programming scheduled throughout the year, this gallery offers more than simply a unique art experience, although the art itself is top rate.
Featuring local artists as well as New England favorites, Celebrations has the best in photography, jewelry, pottery, oils and watercolors, acrylics, ceramics, and much more.
Chosen as Yankee Magazine’s #1 art gallery in the Best of New England Reader’s Choice Awards for 2010, people are coming from all over to see this place. Formerly a bed and breakfast, Celebrations has kept its charm and built on it, making it a must-see destination for anyone passing through Connecticut.
Its proximity to the best of Pomfret is also a plus. The Vanilla Bean Cafe is right down the road, and you don’t want to skip that. The food is delectable, the atmosphere is artsy at its best, and the live entertainment is diverse and talented. From folk to bluegrass, you’ll feel like you’re in the best of Boston’s coffeehouses at the Bean. Check it out as part of your arts and culture tour through Connecticut — and don’t leave without trying one of the desserts!
