Explore Conn. on foot during Connecticut Trails Day celebrations, June 2-3.
We’re heading into summer, which means it’s a great time of year to check out the plethora of hiking trails across eastern Connecticut. And this weekend, you can hike and party at the same time by helping celebrate the 20th Annual Connecticut Trails Day. The event runs June 2-3, 2012 and the theme is “America’s Largest TRAILgating Party.” It’s part of the National Trails Day movement to promote hiking and favorite trails across the country.
Pieces of each of the three national trails meander through Connecticut, and there are nearly two hundred events statewide, encompassing 121 towns and over 540 miles of trails, where they’re happening. Outdoor activities including hiking, biking, running, trail maintenance and educational walks are complemented by horseback riding, kayaking, bird watching and more, all led by volunteers and trained professionals. Download the full list on the website.
So get your hiking boots or running shoes ready, pack a lunch and plan for the perfect outdoor, active New England weekend. See you on the trails!
