Experience a true New England fair. The Brooklyn Fair, August 25-28, 2011..
Like local fairs? Then you don’t want to miss the oldest agricultural fair in the country – the annual Brooklyn Fair, which attracts more visitors than we can count! It’s a good thing it runs for four days, because there would never be enough time to do everything. Food, live music, entertainment for the kids, livestock, food, fireworks, carnival rides, food, a country store and museum, pie-eating contests…and did I mention food? This fair is awesome. Do not miss it.
Live musical guests on the main stage this year include Jimmy Lehoux, Craig Campbell, The Jane Dear Girls, Steve Holy and Changes in Latitude. There are multiple stages and a children’s stage too, so the entertainment is plentiful. And there are cool contests like the Chainsaw Show, Skillet Toss and Vegetable Races, as well as the traditional livestock shows and home and garden exhibits.
The kids get their own Little Mr./Miss Brooklyn Fair contest, as well as a corn-husking contest. Free bike drawings, balloon heads, water races–it can’t get any better for them than this weekend.
Seriously, you want to carve out a lot of time to check out this fair. It’s the perfect heading-into-fall New England weekend. We’ll save you a corn dog!
