Celebrate the environment. Spring Thanksgiving with the Mashantuckets, March 23-24.
If you only know the Mashantucket Pequots for the Foxwoods Resort Casino, you’re missing out. The tribal nation brings so much more to the southeastern Connecticut area – like the Spring Thanksgiving: Gifts of the Land & Waters event where they invite the public to join in their celebration of the environment.
The annual spring seasonal thanksgiving festival has activities, music and even wildlife and reptile demonstrations for public education.
It will be held Friday and Saturday, March 23-24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gathering Space in the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center.
Live flute player Hawk Henries (Nipmuc) will perform at 1 p.m. Saturday. Marla Isaacs of the New England Reptile and Raptor Exhibits will teach about wildlife. And museum staff will help younger guests create fish prints and snake mobiles.
This is an opportunity to not only share in a time-honored Native tradition, but to personally honor the environment–a worthy activity for all of us.
There are other great events coming up at the museum this spring. Check their schedule for more details.
